Source-first reading
Peer-reviewed human evidence and systematic reviews lead when they address the question.
INNERSTANDIN books turn difficult health language into readable source maps, careful definitions, and questions a reader can take to a qualified professional.
The library is free and public. There is no payment, email gate, account requirement, affiliate catalogue, or health-data form.
OPEN BY DESIGN
Both six-chapter manuscripts are open as educational reading. Neither is medically reviewed or suitable for personal diagnosis, and each keeps its evidence boundaries visible.
BOOK 01 // SIX CHAPTERS OPEN
A free public book about the language of swelling, the distinction between lymphoedema and lipoedema, assessment questions, management evidence, and UK professional conversations.
Chapters 1–6 are now open with longform writing, references, UK comparisons, and chapter-only print views. The complete public manuscript remains educational and is not medically reviewed.

Chapters 1–6 carry a thesis, source labels, evidence boundaries, UK comparisons, and print views. All six titles are open.
BOOK 02 // SIX CHAPTERS OPEN
A free, source-led companion on the time and planning around care, household responsibilities, out-of-pocket spending, shared support and what research measures. It keeps breast-cancer-related lymphoedema evidence distinct from lipoedema research.
Much of the numerical cost research concerns breast-cancer-related arm lymphoedema. The lipoedema sources describe lived and social impact, but do not provide a UK population estimate of care hours or household costs. This educational manuscript is not medically reviewed and does not calculate an individual’s costs.

Six open chapters connect daily work with costs, roles, support and the limits of research measures. Each chapter includes citations, source cards and a print view.
THE INNERSTANDIN METHOD
The library uses PICO-S to frame questions, GRADE to keep confidence and recommendations distinct, and PRISMA and Cochrane methods to read reviews responsibly. Human evidence leads. Mechanistic or early findings and UK service context are labelled separately.
Peer-reviewed human evidence and systematic reviews lead when they address the question.
Design, population, outcome, UK context, and uncertainty stay visible rather than implied.
Open chapters receive clean reading and print views, with their source limits visible.
Follow five cautious hubs around swelling, evidence, assessment, and management outcomes.
Open ResearchUse four blank local-only pages for observations, appointments, daily burden, and source reading.
Open ResourcesA chapter can clarify language and sources. It cannot identify a condition or prescribe care.
